Operational Update for the Pavilion Parking Structure

On Thursday, May 16, campus began work on the Pavilion Parking Structure to restrict public vehicle and pedestrian access to levels 5 and 6 of the structure. Fencing will be installed on the ramps, elevators will no longer stop at levels 5 and 6 and the stairwell above the 4th floor will be locked. Peace, Love, and Bicycles: May is Bike Month

Bikes are a fairly normal thing in Davis, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take time to lift them up and celebrate them. May is National Bike Month, established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists, and continues locally as we celebrate 20 years of May is Bike Month with our pals at Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA).

In an effort to enhance safety for anyone traveling on the Davis campus, Transportation Services is excited to introduce the Traffic Ambassador Program, which has launched at the Silo. Traffic Ambassadors are trained students who are facilitating the safe movement of traffic at the Silo terminal on Hutchison Drive, Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Commuter Card Benefits Program

In November 2023 Transportation Services launched the much anticipated UC Davis Campus Commuter Card Benefits Program, offering a pre-tax benefit account with a reloadable VISA card to pay for commute-related expenses. The program, administered by the HealthEquity family of companies, is available to UC Davis employees on the Davis and satellite campuses.

Youth Bike Helmets Recalled

Children’s bicycle helmets handed out at events on campus last year have been recalled by the manufacturer.

The helmets, Retrospec Scout in sizes small and extra-small, were given out by the UC Davis Police Department at events like Picnic Day, Thank Goodness for Staff, Take Our Children to Work Day and elsewhere between April and June.

The department distributed 76 of the helmets, purchased with a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety.

Parking rates, both daily and monthly, will increase starting on September 1, 2023, to ensure that Transportation Services meets its obligation to maintain safe and sustainable infrastructure used by drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. The department is responsible for the maintenance of safe, accessible parking areas and campus mobility.
